I was a little nervous to leave my friends and family in Brazil and come on my exchange year in Alabama. But my host family was so nice, that I felt like I was part of their family right away. It was so hard to leave at the end of the year, but I am already planning to come back to visit. I am so lucky because now I have two families!

I loved living in Kansas! At first, I wasn't sure if there would be a lot to do because I was staying in a small town. But I soon learned about all the different activities at school and in the community. I joined the drama club and yearbook committee and volunteered a lot with my host family, and it was so much fun!
Local Coordinators are the key to success for our program. They are the “feet on the street” in the local community – securing school slots for our students, finding caring host families, and supervising participants throughout the year.
Coordinators should have a volunteer spirit, but are compensated for both placing and supervising students. Coordinators also receive bonus points towards exciting travel and occasional special incentives!
