How to Become a Local Coordinator

Real Stories

"Becoming an IEC was great for me when I moved from a small town to a larger community and knew no one except my family. It was a wonderful way to get acquainted with people. I was so excited the first time I went to a store and someone said 'hi'—it was a host family!"

Contact Us to Learn More

In just three easy steps, you can share your America with international students from around the world. Here’s how:

Step 1 - Tell Us You're Interested!

Contact us online or by phone at 800-447-4273 to tell us that you are interested in becoming a Coordinator. Our staff will answer all of your questions about this unique and rewarding experience. They’ll also put you in touch with the Regional Coordinator for your area.

You’ll need to submit an application, references, and a background check form. To make the process as easy for you as possible, you can provide this information by fax, email or postal mail.

Step 2 - Receive Confirmation

While our staff contacts your references, your Regional Coordinator will arrange an in-home interview. Once all of your materials are accepted and approved, your Recruitment Manager can welcome you to the EF family!

Step 3 - Attend Training

Now the fun begins! You will receive a comprehensive training manual and local-level training from your Regional Coordinator and potentially other EF staff. You will also receive information about EF Foundation’s national IEC trainings where you can meet the national staff, plus a network of fellow IECs from across the country.

You’ll be fully prepared to run an exchange program in your community in no time. And don’t forget—EF Foundation’s support doesn’t end after training. Your Regional Coordinator and Boston staff are there for you 365 days a year!
